Laveno on Lake Maggiore is the most important resort on the east bank of Lake Maggiore. There, tourists can go for walks by the lakefront, with porticoed buildings and pedestrian areas. This bustling town also offers a nice shopping area.
Villa Porta Bozzolo. This charming villa is arranged on two levels and dates back to the early 18th century, when some major building work concerning the 16th century section, and the extension of the wing at the end of the 17th century, was carried out.
A ferry service provides transportation to Verbania, where the huge botanical garden of Villa Taranto can be visited. It includes approximately 1000 non local plants and 20,000 varieties and species of great botanical value. Thousands of plants coming from all over the world form rare collections. Some of the most important works include: the “Valletta”, built after major excavation work; the irrigation system, where water is pumped out of the lake and into a large tank, and then irradiated in every corner of the property; the “Terrace gardens”, with waterfalls, a swimming pool and tanks containing nymphs and lotus flowers; the “Winter garden” and the “Marshy garden”; ornamental fountains and water features.

A ferry service connects Intra to the fascinating and popular tourist destination of Eremo (Hermitage) di Santa Caterina del Sasso.
The superb Eremo di Santa Caterina del Sasso, set between the rocks and the water, and almost looking as though it is suspended in mid-air, represents the very essence as well as the most important religious building in Verbania. Its ancient church and the monastery, the courtyards and the porticoes offer some amazing views and many precious works of art: architecture, painting and nature all blend together into a balanced mixture of rare and precious shapes.
